About Julie

Julie-OTDP.jpg

Tired of proofreading your own work and worried that you might be missing errors? I’m here to help.

My name is Julie, and I’ve been proofreading professionally for over 25 years. I understand that your reputation is at stake with each final job that you submit, and I am dedicated to making you look good!

My experience includes teaching high school English, editing print and web content for an educational association, and proofreading transcripts for court reporters. I look forward to putting that proofreading experience to work for you!

On a personal note, I live in the beautiful state of North Carolina with my childhood sweetheart, Jon, and my teenage son, Mason. Some of my hobbies are singing in church, dabbling in web design, and reading blogs and books about parenting and productivity.

Random facts about Julie:

  • I’m left-handed.

  • I’ve been a state-level spelling bee pronouncer for almost 25 years.

  • I married my childhood sweetheart. We met in the fourth grade!

  • I don’t like coffee. I love a good cup of hot chocolate, though.

Language Lover

My love for the English language started long ago and has grown ever since. After teaching secondary English for many years, I transitioned into professional proofreading, a job I truly love!

Teacher at Heart

My teaching background makes me a different kind of proofreader than most: I truly want my clients to learn from their mistakes. An average proofreader fixes errors. A great proofreader fixes errors and teaches the writer how to avoid them next time.

Clear Communicator

From the moment I accept a proofreading job, I communicate regularly with you to make sure that I complete the job on time and help you meet your deadlines. I also create brief screencast recordings to explain my corrections when needed.
